About It Took

It Took is a daily guessing game about how the physical world adds up. How many balloons lift a cat? How many people on bikes does it take to run a fridge?

Each day brings five experiments. You guess, then watch the experiment run with your number, and you get three tries to land it. It takes a few minutes, it is free, and it works in any browser with no account.

Why we made it

Videos asking "how many did it take?" are some of the most fun things on the internet, but you only get to watch. It Took lets you guess first and then see what happens. Along the way you pick up useful intuition: how much energy is in a battery, how much sugar is in a soda, how hard it is to lift something with balloons.

Fair answers

Every experiment states its assumption before you guess and uses standard, published numbers: nutrition labels for food, accepted physics constants for energy and heat. You can see each one, with a worked example, on the science page.

Who makes it

It Took is made by Faven Games, a small independent studio that makes short daily puzzles and indie games. Our other daily game is Tilt, where you balance a scale by guessing how many of one thing weigh as much as another.

How it stays free

It Took shows a small number of ads, kept away from the experiments, and you can support it with an optional one-time tip. There are no accounts and we do not collect personal data to run the game. See our privacy policy.
